Claude Destand is descended from one of the original master potters of the 17th Century Hérault village St Jean de Fos.
His hand thrown pottery faithfully reproduces many of the original pots and ceramics produced in this small village since the 17th century, when there were over 70 working potteries in the village.
Claude uses only the three St Jean de Fos traditional glaze colours– green, honey, and straw.
The vases and pots are all hand thrown and signed by the master potter himself.
These jars and vases look wonderful when mixed with plain Mediterranean terracotta.
His garden pottery is suitable for use outdoors and indoors, although all glazed pots placed outdoors should be protected in winter and brought under cover in case of frost.
