Claude Destand - Ceramic Terracotta Tableware
The Midi is famous for its gastronomic delights - black olive tapenade, olive oils of all flavours, Bouzigues oysters, delicious patés and casseroles , and of course its wines from all across the region. To really do justice to these wonderful foods and wines you have to enjoy the meals using traditional and artisan made ceramic tableware such as the Claude Destand collection.
Claude Destand faithfully reproduces the tableware once used throughout the region - platters, plates, saucers, olive and fruit bowls, pitchers and jugs and water-cooling vases. Only glazes in the three St Jean de Fos traditional colours - green, honey, and straw are used, to very striking effect.
The tableware, with care, is dishwasher proof and can be used for decorative tableware or for everyday use. The jugs and pots that hold liquids should be sealed first by filling with milk for 6 hours, or overnight. The terracotta absorbs the milk through the glaze and reduces any condensation through the bases of the pottery that might harm wooden surfaces if placed directly onto them. We suggest you can also protect surfaces from scratches by placing mats under these items.
